TAYOGO S5 – OUR RATING 4.2/5
Looking through some of the reviews of the Tayogo S5 headphones.
While the reviewers’ responses have been openly positive towards the headphones.
We have been able to sort through the negative and positive reviews and give our own rating from the varying reviews.
Here are some of the main features most people have rated highly or poorly about the Tayogo S5:
Volume
The headphone’s default volume is rather loud. When turned on the switch on tone “Power On” is that loud.
Such that when left on a table, the sound buzz is more than enough to move them a little.
Even the lowest volume level is quite loud too, moreso in very quiet environment.
You may find that when using the headphone for listening to MP3 that the headphone’s volume maybe abnormally low.
And when outside you may often need to crank up the volume, to account for noise in your surroundings.
Sound Quality
The sound quality is decent, with a bit more depth on the mid-ranges, but still lacking in bass.
The bass does improve a bit on using earplugs.
The sound quality was a bit much clearer than that of the Tayogo S2, but not on par with what you can expect from the Shokz Trekz Air or Shokz OpenMove.
Pick up where you left off
You will find that it does not pick up where you left off.
If you like listening through the MP3 mode and shuffling, it boots up in the Bluetooth pairing mode and continuous play mode.
So, you have to first re-pair and set shuffle each time you start it up.
The same is also true for audiobooks or podcasts, you will need to start all over again.
MP3 player Vs Bluetooth headset
The peak volume is much lower with MP3 than through Bluetooth.
Another challenge is that the headset will either work as an MP3 player OR a Bluetooth headset.
But will not work as both at the same time.
So playing MP3 music from the headset and at the same time getting traffic directions via Bluetooth will not be possible.
Comfort
You can wear them all day long with little to no discomfort.
Meaning you can forget them on your head as you go about your day.
This is often more common when the music stops playing and forget to play the next song.
File Transfer
The rate of data transfer on the unit is too slow.
When you upload close to 2GB of audio files, it takes about a couple of hours to complete.
If you do try to upload at once, close to 8GB of audio files.
You may find that you almost won’t be able to use them on the first day due to the slow file transfer.
File Format and Conversion
It is a Bluetooth headset with an MP3 player.
However, audio and music files in Apple’s AAC format must be converted to .MP3 first before they can be played.
Such that your music files in your Apple iTunes will first need to be converted before they will play on the headphone.
Better still you can use a mixtape app to download .MP3 songs unto the headphone.

FEATURES
- Bone Conduction Headphone and Mp3 Player
- One Size Fits All
- Open-Ear Comfortable Design
- Total Audio Support
Bone Conduction Headphone and Mp3 Player
This Tayogo S5 Bone Conduction Headset comes with a Bluetooth connection and has about 8GB of internal memory for MP3 files.
Bluetooth will be useful in situations when you want to listen to music from your phone.
If you go out to exercise and don’t want to move around with your phone, you can use the MP3 Play functionality.
It is a nice option to have and use if you have activities where you don’t want to damage your phone when you move around.
One Size Fits All
The full wrap-around open-ear design of the headphone hangs around your head and right behind the ears.
This helps to create a more secure fitting headphone that won’t slip off or slide out from sudden movements during long runs or workouts.
The stretchable one-size frame makes for a comfortable fit for most people.
Open-Ear Comfortable Design
The headphone uses bone conduction technology to deliver sound through your cheekbones.
This is unlike regular headphones that send audio through the ear canals.
With your ears kept open and free, you get to enjoy total awareness and comfort as you listen.
This makes them a good choice to improve your hearing health, more so for people suffering from some hearing loss.

TAYOGO S5 CUSTOMER FEEDBACK
Below we showcase balanced feedback from actual customers. They have written down their reviews from their own personal experiences from their personal use of the Tayogo S5 headset, from across the web.
POSITIVE FEEDBACK
I’ll kick off with the 5 main downsides I found.
- These leaks out sounds a lot, but they are close enough to your ears such that it won’t cause noise pollution.
- The file data transfer rate is very very slow.
- The lowest volume on these is not as low as you might expect, for a very quiet environment. Though when it is noisy outside, I did have to turn up the volume
- They do not start up where you left off.
- There’s not enough bass output from the headphones
They stay in place during vigorous activities.
They are also comfortable and I often forgot to have them on and did fit in well alongside my sunglasses and bike helmet.
I compared them with the AfterShokz Trekz Air to see how they fared.
The sound quality was much improved on the Trekz Air and leaked less sounds.
The Trekz Air has 2 main buttons, compared to the 3 on the S5.
You can easily tell which buttons you are pressing when you feel them.
However, the simplicity came at the cost of not being able to change the playback mode.
They also only use Bluetooth (and has no MP3 player).
They are much lighter, though both are well balanced that you won’t really be able to notice.
Overall the Tayogo S5 offers more options (from the shuffle play to the MP3 player and costs less than half the price too).
- COLLINS
CRITICAL FEEDBACK
To start, let it be known that they work just fine, I would have preferred that they were louder.
I found it quite hard to keep them in place on my head.
I do wear glasses but that also didn’t help, and they feel pretty loose on my head.
They are well-priced and affordable bone-conducting headphones.
They do sound good for music and phone calls, but most people complained they could not hear me clearly.
However, do bear in mind that I have a very deep bass voice.
Though, I do have some expensive bone conducting headphones, and I have not experienced the phone call complaints with them.
If you want them for music and not for making calls, they are quite good for your money.
Having said all that, the issues may just be restricted to my unit.
Maybe it just these that are worse. You can buy them, try them out and if they do not work for you, return them promptly.
