Our Rating: 3.9/5
This should give you an affordable bone-conducting headset that provides you most features that you need. Our rating caters to anyone who is looking to own an open ear headset, to listen to music on the go. If this is what you want, then check it out.
Here are some of the main features most people have rated highly or poorly about the Moing Wireless:
It is lightweight and feels very comfortable to wear, and you may forget it on your head. You also don’t have to put anything in your ears; you don’t get ear sores, making for easier all-day wear.
You can also go to sleep with it, without having to worry about any ear injuries or facial bruises.
Its much smaller size, thinner and flexible frame make it less discomforting on the head and back of your neck, and also just firm enough not to cause undue headaches.
It hangs freely and stable, with little to no movements on your head when you are running or shaking your head.
For people with larger head sizes, it does not feel uncomfortable, nor leave you feeling it could drop off your head at any moment.
Due to its positioning just outside of your tragus, you can get some tickling at very high volumes.
Value for money
Currently, on the market, you can get more expensive Aftershokz headsets, but with the Moing Wireless you get a headset that delivers on comfort, quality, and price
If you’re considering picking up your first wireless bone conduction headphone, the Moing is a pretty decent pick. As it offers you more safety for biking, driving, and running than most convectional noise-canceling headsets.
Listening to audiobooks, music, or podcasts while you exercise, and also hear your phone ring or knock at your door.
You can use it in your office without having to disturb anyone around you, and still be able to engage in a meaningful conversation with your fellow co-workers.
On your way, to work and back home you can make and receive calls on the go. You can also use it to listen to location directions on your phone.
In this era of many online lectures and teaching sessions, you can easily switch between multiple devices, when you want it.
If you like listening to music to sleep, you can use it without disturbing anyone close by.
It is a good pick for anyone who’s into cycling, running, and skating. Or just about any activity where the noise levels are on the low side. For treadmills and indoor bicycle trainers, you may not fully enjoy the experience.
With decent battery life, the headphone should stay with you through your days.
For working out
A proper seal around the headset makes it a good choice for working out.
You won’t have to bother about dust nor sweat leaking into it. No matter how heavily you work out and sweat, it should stay with you through it all.
When you are done exercising and need to shower to freshen up, showering with the headset on makes for a different experience.
On rainy days, the headset should survive too, as it is sufficiently water-resistant. You should however not go swimming in the pool with the Moing headset, because it is not fully waterproof.
As with most bone-conducting headsets, this headset’s sound quality is fair enough. You won’t get the very best of top full quality sound with it, compared to other in-ear or around-the-ear headphones.
Sound quality is good for everyday use, but definitely not great – lower base or no detailed treble, but the stereo is solid and you get to mix in ambient sound experience.
It is a tradeoff you’ll have to consider, to maintain open and all-day comfortable ears
But for the decent sound quality you get, you also get an improved microphone, with much higher sensitivity.
Most people you call should hear you clearly and can also hear distinct sounds from your background. If you are panting or breathing quite heavily the headset‘s mic can pick it up, even when someone snores near you.
There’s some noise leakage when using the headset, so be watchful for it.
Whenever you connect to your smart devices, people around you can hear the system message “Connected” clearly. You don’t have to max out the volume to experience this.
It is also not the loudest headset out there. Be aware that higher volumes may cause some intense vibrations to the side of your face.
The Moing Wireless headset is not best suited for listening to sounds at high volumes. With most smartphones like the Oneplus 7t, your volume settings should be between 50-60%, to better enjoy your listening experience.
The sound quality overall makes it better suited for indoor use since it provides no noise cancellation.
The battery life is good, lasting all day on a full charge. It also charges very quickly.
You should get about an average of 8 to 9 hours, from full charge to full battery drain when listening to music at a decent volume level.
While making calls you should expect the battery to last about 6 plus hours on a full charge.
Out of the box, it comes almost fully charged and ready to test and use.
You may also notice the inaccuracy in the battery level indicator on your PC or a mobile phone; it shows only 10% and 100% battery levels.
The battery indicator also disappears when charging, to only reappear when you’re done charging your headset.
It does not do a great job at noise canceling. During phone calls, you should have no problem hearing your callers, so long as their surrounding is calm.
However, if you are in a noisy or windy environment, your callers will probably complain about noise in your background.
Your smartphone should do a better job at noise canceling than the headset does offer.
Though the microphone transmits clear sounds across, the limitation lies in what environment, you are making your calls.
If you want to listen to music or make phone calls without being disturbed by sounds around you, you can make use of earplugs to block out sounds from your surroundings.
This way of using the headset is best suited for indoor usage only.
PROS AND CONS
- Compact and light
- Comfortable fitting
- Works well alongside most hearing aids
- People around can hear what you’re listening to, when loud
- Absence of deep and rich sounds
As we have pointed out the main features you get with the Moing Wireless Bone Conducting Headphone.
We think you may prefer this headset for what it offers; a simple open and over-the-ear lightweight design to a decent audio delivery.
These features have been well rated, thus you should be getting something that checks all the marks, for what you may want from a bone conduction headphone.
Overall these are fantastic! It’s like walking around with your own theme music & you can still hear everything within your immediate environment & can carry on with conversations all while using your headphones. They also save your eardrums!
Moing TouchBone BC-8 Review
- High-fidelity Bone Conduction Technology
- Open Ear Design
- All-day Comfort
- Advanced Bluetooth 5.0 Connectivity
- Healthy and Easy To Clean
High-fidelity Bone Conduction Technology:
Bone conduction lets you hear or listen to music without having to make use of your ears.
Bone conduction is achieved when you place the headset on the side of your face, then sound vibrations are transmitted directly to the inner ear bypassing the outer ear.
A side point to note is that sound travels much faster in solids than in air, this technology takes advantage of this.
This is what lets you hear clearly, and helps to maintain a degree of higher fidelity sound reproduction even in a noisy environment.
This holds true so long as the noise in your surrounding is not so loud.
If it becomes too overbearing, it may overwhelm your audio experience making it difficult to make out any sound from the headset.
This works well for people with impaired hearing because it bypasses the eardrums.
This is also a plus for anyone who wants to protect their hearing and eardrums from damage caused by frequent headphone usage.
It is also a good choice for anyone who wants to try something different from what they are used to.
This is however being disputed by a cross-section of its users.
Some insist it is not fully bone conductive, especially amongst a number of people with varying degrees of hearing impairment.
Others with total hearing loss argued to the contrary, stating that the headset works well for them without having to rely on their hearing aids.
Open Ear Design:
You get an open ear design that lets you listen to ambient sounds.
This is achieved by ensuring the headset’s endplate makes no contact with the ears, while it rests on the temples of your face, thus ensuring open ears are maintained.
This lets you maintain cool and dry ears, avoiding ear discomfort and pressure from the use of in-ear or around-the-ear headphones.
You can go out, listen to music and still hear sounds from your surroundings. This makes it a good choice for both indoor and outdoor sporting activities.
You can hear vehicles and other people nearby as you go about your activities. You can also listen to your gym instructors as you work out, or hear when someone is in distress and in need of help around you.
When you are at home with the children and you can’t afford to put on earphones.
This headset will let you listen to your favorite podcast or music while maintaining open ears to monitor your kids and pets as they play about.
You can also be fully immersed in the kitchen, listen to music and also be able to hear when your doorbell rings.
You get to experience comfort all day long, while being able to listen to music.
This is rather unlike most other Bluetooth headphones, which you have to frequently remove from your ears due to the discomfort and soreness they cause.
The lightweight Moing bone-conducting headset alongside its open ear design, helps you achieve a truly comfortable headphone experience.
The lightweight design makes for comfortable all-day wearing, as you can easily move around with a headset and not bother if it will weigh you down.
You get the added benefits of long listening music sessions and hearing protection without having to deal with ear sores and headphone-related ear infections.
Advanced Bluetooth 5.0 Connectivity:
You get a faster and more durable Bluetooth connection.
This is achieved via the deployment of the Bluetooth 5.0 technology, enabling easy pairing with lots of Bluetooth-enabled devices, from your smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Note, tablets, smartwatches, Echo, Apple’s iOS devices, and Andriod devices.
It also delivers a multipoint Bluetooth connection. You get to pair your mobile phone and PC/laptop (or any combination of 2 smart devices) to your Moing headset.
This is such that you can easily swap playing music between either device at a time.
When you have a phone call, and you are currently watching a movie on your laptop. The laptop will auto-pause the movie, as the call is being picked by your smartphone.
You get to experience a truly wireless experience. No more entangling wires, obstructing your daily workflow and activities.
So that you can move freely around your home or workplace while using the headset to listen to music/podcasts or receive phone calls.
Healthy and Easy To Clean:
You get to maintain a healthy ear and also an easy-to-clean headset.
Since bone conduction headphones do not enter into the ear canals, you get to maintain open, clean, and hygienic ear canals. The flat surfaces of bone-conducting headsets are very smooth and rather very easy to clean. When compared to conventional earphones pores are prone to the deposition of germs (bacteria).
You clean your headset by wiping it with a piece of clean and dry clothing.
This also ensures you are protected from developing or worsening ear infections.
Overall, you get an open ear design which makes it very comfortable to wear all day if needed, and lets you hear callers or listen to music without completely plugging yourself away from the world around you.
We sourced them all from across the web.
I found these Moing TouchBone BC-8 headphones life changing! I have hyperacusis and i am also a core audiofile.
I have extensively researched bone conductive tech, before I choose these and I am happy I did.
It is not expensive but it also deliveres on quality, comfort and the price is just right.
They were delivered fully charged and ready to use right of out-of-the-box.
As I put them on I liked the sound quality and being aware that my ear drum was not involved in hearing the sound, gave me a lot of relief and calmed my anxiety of worsening my hyperacusis.
I use ear plugs a lot to help make my daily living less painful and bearable, but it also increased the sound quality of the headset and my comfort.
I use prescription glasses and the headset sit comfortably alongside it on my ear, I almost forgot I was wearing them at some point in time.
Whenever I go about walking, jogging and chasing down my kids, they didn’t move around much.
The battery life lasted the whole day.
I did not have head, facial or in-ear sores from the use of these.
I found that they were easy to pair.
I liked them that much that I had my colleagues try them on, and they just could not resist ordering their own pairs.
I think they are the best gift I have given myself in recent times, at such a pretty decent price range.
If you are like me and you are affected by over sensitive hearing, or suffer from tympanic membrane damage, or bouts of sound induced migraines like myself. I would like to recommend these to you.
This was my first “bone conduction” headset, I have little experience of what to compare it with.
That being said, I find that the description of “bone conductive” to be a stretch given my experiences with actual conductive audio devices for hearing tests.
From my one personal experience using actual conductive audio devices, during hearing assesment testing. I think the term “bone conductive” for these is a stretch.
I use hearing aids and have undergone bone-conductive testing with bone-conduction equipments, made to carry vibratory signals across the mastoid bone located behind the ear.
True bone conduction “bypasses” the air-conduction track via the middle ear, transmitting signals right across to the inner ear nerves.
I was caught off gaurd when I heared a very audible “Power On” when I turned them on at my first time of use, as i expected them to be fully bone conductive.
While it may not be too unreasonable to be able to hear some sound from the speaker driver, but didn’t certainly did not expect it to be that loud.
I thought the “Power On” was an exception. So I decided to play some music before wearing them on, to my suprise I noticed I could hear them from an arm’s length away.
I believe they are using a little more air conduction, than I hope to expect from a bone-conduction headset.
